Brattleboro Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older in Brattleboro, Vermont. MAT is an evidence-based approach to treating opioid addiction that combines the use of prescription medication with counseling. At our premier outpatient addiction treatment center, we conduct MAT using methadone. Methadone is the oldest and most commonly used medication for treating opioid use disorder. Methadone is FDA-approved, and clinical studies show that it has high success rates in helping people stop using opioids. For decades, clients have found freedom from opioid addiction with the support offered by methadone.

At Brattleboro CTC, we understand that opioid use disorder is highly individual. Each client has a different relationship with addiction and unique treatment goals. When a client comes to us for treatment, our compassionate staff members conduct an initial evaluation. The client is asked to share details regarding opioid use (such as type, frequency, amount, and length of addiction). Based on these details and a client’s medical and mental health background, our physicians prescribe an individualized treatment regimen using methadone. Methadone is safe for detox, short-term use, and long-term use. The length of an addiction treatment regimen depends on health factors and a client’s recovery goals.

MAT medication provides physical and psychological support and comfort during the process of overcoming opioid addiction. However, medication doesn’t address the many other factors that accompany and lead to addiction. As part of MAT at Brattleboro CTC, clients also participate in group and individual therapies. Counseling helps clients identify contributing factors to addiction, like mental and emotional health, coping skills, communication skills, family dynamics, and social and environmental elements. Clients are guided to consider how concerns in these areas may have led to addiction and how they may add to a risk for relapse in the future.

At Brattleboro CTC, we place clients at the center of the treatment process. We expect each individual to take an active role in therapy. Clients are encouraged to take full advantage of our programs by actively participating in group and individual therapy and giving honest, accurate feedback about their recovery progress and any struggles they face. The staff members at Brattleboro CTC work as a team to guide and support clients as they move forward from opioid addiction. With the advice and guidance of our experienced behavioral health professionals, clients build new skills, set recovery goals, and make plans to effect changes that will create a lifestyle in support of recovery.
