Clinch Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is an outpatient addiction treatment facility that offers individualized therapies and treatment modalities for adults age 18 and older. Located on Town Hollow Road in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, Clinch Valley CTC provides addiction treatment for adults of all genders using medication-assisted treatment, or MAT. MAT is a treatment modality that combines the use of certain prescription medications with counseling to provide patients with comprehensive, individualized treatment for opioid addiction.

Medication-assisted treatment is an evidence-based form of treatment that has garnered the approval of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and other premier organizations. Many people have heard of methadone for opioid addiction treatment, but there are other medications that can provide excellent results as well.

Medications used at Clinch Valley CTC include Suboxone, buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone. These medications are prescription drugs that can help ease opioid withdrawal symptoms, including muscle aches, anxiety, an inability to sleep, restlessness, rapid pulse, high blood pressure, nausea, and more. Research shows that patients who use MAT to overcome substance use have fuller recoveries than those who do not.

Effective counseling paired with prescription medications as part of opioid addiction treatment includes group counseling and individual counseling. Individual counseling is often effective because it gives patients one-on-one time with a professional who can help them focus on their particular situation, treatment goals, and recovery needs. Patients also have the chance to bring up any topics during this time that they may feel uncomfortable discussing during group counseling sessions. Group counseling is also important for patients who are seeking outpatient addiction treatment. Group sessions are excellent for reminding patients that they are not alone and that others share experiences similar to theirs. Opioid addiction can tend to bring with it a sense of loneliness, and group counseling can reaffirm the presence of supportive peers for patients. Group counseling also provides the chance for patients to offer support to each other and learn from the experiences of others in the group.

Clinch Valley CTC is a leading opioid addiction treatment center for many reasons. We understand how addiction can chip away at a person’s self-esteem and that many adults who struggle with symptoms of addiction likely suffer from feelings of shame, guilt, anger, isolation, and even fear and other negative emotions. Our team provides compassionate, comprehensive care that blends medications and counseling to give our patients the support they deserve and the tools they need to achieve recovery."
