Elizabeth Tener is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts. She works in downtown Salem and her office is easily available to towns on the North Shore of Boston.
Experience
Elizabeth has twenty years' experience at state-licensed clinics, group practices and in private practice. Her expertise lies in working with clients who want their faith, religion, or spirituality considered as an important resource in emotional healing. She also works part-time in a substance-abuse clinic, and has expertise in working with addicts and their families. She also specializes in marriage and couples counseling, and in women's lifelong growth and development.
Education
Elizabeth received her B.A. from Smith College, her masters in teaching from Brown University, and her masters in social work from Yeshiva University. In addition she completed an intensive 4-year residency at the Blanton-Peale Institute in New York City, where she studied psychodynamic psychotherapy and pastoral psychotherapy.
Therapy style
Elizabeth excels in putting people at ease in the therapy process. She is a skilled, nonjudgmental listener and takes her client's life experience and her role as a guide with utmost seriousness.  At the same time, she often uses humor in sessions, and brings her small dog Ruffie along as a soothing and friendly canine co-therapist.
