Life can be challenging and handling life's issues on our own can be overwhelming.  I have worked in the mental health field for over 8 years and one thing that I have learned is that pain and brokenness crosses all racial, gender and cultural boundaries.  Everyone needs help.  I have experience helping people to change unhealthy relationships, improve low self esteem, decrease stress, and work through traumas in their lives.  My office is a place where clients can talk without fear or judgment, in order to explore and confront their issues and improve their lives.  It is my goal as a therapist to help you to find clarity, direction and the path to change and personal fulfillment.

My Background
In 1999, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in Psychology.  I eventually went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Family Studies from Texas Woman's University and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Alabama.

My experience working in the community setting, of Dallas County, has allowed me to grow as a mental health professional.  In that position, I was able to acquire the skills to help both acute and chronic individuals suffering from Depression, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder and psychosis. The diverse population of patients in services allowed me to gain valuable experience and develop a multi-cultural, multi-racial and multi-lifestyle perspective that is of a great benefit to my clients.

What to Expect During Therapy

A session usually lasts for 50 minutes. Initial/Intake sessions will typically last for 60 minutes.  In the first appointment, we will review the confidentiality and consent, intake paperwork and the therapeutic process

What you should know
The first few sessions of therapy are also about getting to know each other (client and therapist).  Expect to confront issues that are uncomfortable

 My Philosophy and Approach
My approach to therapy is "honesty wrapped in compassion".  I believe that you "Cannot Change What You Do Not Acknowledge".  When working with me, you can be assured that you will feel supported.  I create an atmosphere where it is easy to talk.  You will both laugh and cry , but you will not leave my office without being challenged to live purposefully and some idea about what that looks like for you.
