What does it really meanto be holistic and integrative?

It means… you are a universe of different thoughts, quirks, capabilities, physical attributes, emotions, neurological functions, shortcomings, and strengths.

It means problems aren’t created — or solved — in a vacuum.

In order to truly heal, we have to address the relationships between mind, body, spirit, and emotions.

We have to consider the Universe.

I have over 25 years of experience in the counseling field. I’ve seen — in my own life and relationships as well as those of my clients — the undeniable connection between mental health, physical health and spiritual health.

The therapeutic process will encourage you to connect with all three of those areas (sometimes for the first time). The good news is that you have innate capacity to heal and grow, even if it doesn’t feel like that right now.

It’s not always fun, or easy.

But it’s real, and it’s the truth.

And when you discover what’s true, you start to heal.

Pastoral Counseling

“Do not seek for anything; do not perform anything; do not intend anything. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted!” — Paul Tillich, The Shaking of Foundations

A spiritual practice isn’t necessarily about one religion or another. It’s a connection to something larger than yourself.

Some people (including me) refer to that as God. Others call it the Universe, or the Source.

But you don’t have to call it anything — nor do you have to be Christian in order to work with me.

The point is that you experience the feeling that there is bigger business than you at work in this world. The sun will always rise and set. Waves will crash on shores.

These things will endure, regardless of what’s happening in your day-to-day.

This knowledge — actually experiencing it, not just believing it from afar — can be humbling. And healing.

And that’s where the spiritual piece fits into your therapeutic work.

If faith is important to you, I can certainly work within that.

But if it’s not?

Well, I’m not gonna throw Bibles at you.

CREDENTIALS

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) — but that doesn’t mean I only work with couples; about 60% of my clients are here for individual counseling.

The Marriage and Family license involves additional, specialized training to help couples work through all that couple stuff.

(It also allows me to bill insurance for both individual and family therapy.)
