About ACTS Therapy And Lisa Marie Raines

I've always been interested in people. My family and my work with people have always been the focus of my attention. I will focus that attention on you. To hear where you are at this moment and hear where you want to go. I will be with you as you journey down many roads, discovering the strengths you have to make new decisions and go the direction you want to go.

My professional training began with a Masters Degree from Adler Graduate School. I have worked with many populations, including adults, adolescents and children. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Minnesota. I also am a trained therapist for EMDR having completed both phase I & II as well as additional clinical training in advanced skills for EMDR and work with Trauma, PTSD. Additional training also serves my clients in working with individuals or families in crisis and those who need help learning new tools for both their family and personal lives.

I will listen to your words of sorrow, hurt, anger and loss and help you rediscover strengths from past life lessons. You have thoughts of love, passion, happiness and dreams that will strengthen you on this journey. We can look at the past, so you can understand where you may be repeating patterns that keep you from living a fulfilling life. Through various methods we can take the road you choose to help lead you to the life you want for yourself and your loved ones.

Due to the changes since the pandemic I offer secure telehealth throug thera-Link. Most of my clients who are in a secure environment prefer this method. I still have a office serving the Southwest Metro area of MN including Shakopee, Prior Lake and Savage I hope you will call Lisa Marie Raines @ 612-483-4464 ~ I currently accept most insurances. Including building parenting skills and skills for children/teens

Through work with both the child/teen and the parents a family will build an environment that gets rid of the chaos. Both you and your child/teen have strengths and skills but perhaps due to new issues those strengths and skills are not working. I can help through a combination of individual and parenting sessions to help build a home that is filled with your family values and is a partnership for success for every family member.

I have considerable experience working with children, adolescents and parents through my background in education and professional counseling. Families are close to my heart and I will do my best to work with yours to reach your goals.

EMDR THERAPY

How does EMDR work?

When a person is very upset, their brain cannot process information as it does ordinarily. One moment becomes “frozen in time,” and remembering a trauma may feel as bad as going through it the first time because the images, sounds, smells, and feelings have not changed. Such memories have a lasting negative effect that interferes with the way a person sees the world and the way they relate to other people.

EMDR seems to have a direct effect on the way that the brain processes information. Following a successful EMDR session, a person no longer relives the images, sounds, and feelings when the event is brought to mind. You still remember what happened, but it is less upsetting. Many types of therapy have similar goals. However, EMDR appears to be similar to what occurs naturally during dreaming or REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Therefore, EMDR can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see disturbing material in a new and less distressing way.

What kind of problems can EMDR treat?

Scientific research has established EMDR as effective for post traumatic stress. However, clinicians also have reported success using EMDR in treatment of the following conditions:
Panic attacks
Complicated grief
Dissociative disorders
Disturbing memories
Phobias
Pain disorders
Performance anxiety
Stress reduction
Addictions
Sexual and/or Physical abuse
Body image disorders
Personality Disorders
