I have been in private practice since 2008. Prior to that, I provided individual and group therapy in both private and community mental health clinics. I have experience working with a wide variety of issues including mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, abuse, addiction, and vocational challenges as well as those simply desiring personal growth. My experience also includes working as an emergency room crisis counselor providing assessments and assistance to individuals facing more intense circumstances. I obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling from Eastern University and my Bachelor of Arts from George Washington University.

I believe in the therapeutic process because I know that it’s effective. You can change and you can heal. It involves no longer avoiding what is painful, confusing or scary and, with help, walking through it to the other side where you’ll find both insight and relief. This process includes exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviors to identify and understand patterns while replacing negative coping strategies with more effective ones. The goal is not only to attend to the current symptoms but to identify and address the underlying roots. One of the most important parts of effective therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. It is critical that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. That is why I encourage individuals to come in for a free consultation and determine whether it feels like a good fit.

The reality is we all ache in different ways, for different periods and for different reasons. Maybe you suddenly find yourself in need of help or perhaps you’ve been considering counseling for some time. Please don’t let fear, or even pride, get in your way. It’s courageous to reach out for help!
