Do you feel like you "should" be doing things better?
Do you feel guilty when you take time just for yourself?
Do you often feel anxious or unhappy?

Learning to treat ourselves with compassion, and balance caretaking for others with self-care is something many of us have to learn - and depression and anxiety can be a clue that it is time to get help doing just that.

My path to becoming a psychotherapist was much the same as the way many of my clients find their path in life -- through making mistakes, feeling uncomfortable, and learning how to get in touch with my authentic self and what I needed to thrive. My early career was spent as doing energy policy, where I fought for consumers. I loved doing good in the world, but I didn't enjoy battling for a living. Getting to know myself led me to finding joy in helping others do the same.
I specialize in working with adults who are hard on themselves. A supportive, authentic therapist can help you begin to appreciate the wonderful person you are, and to enjoy your life more fully than ever before.

I help my clients manage anxiety, break through depression, improve their relationships and self-esteem, and have greater compassion for themselves and others. My style is warm and nonjudgmental. Improving self-care and becoming more authentically yourself can transform life stresses into opportunities for growth and increased happiness.

Other areas I work with include grief and chronic pain. I lead a support group for women with postpartum depression and anxiety. Visit my website at www.MeriLevy.com for more information about my work.

I earned my B.A. from Tufts University, a Masters in Economics from New Mexico State University, and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. I am a member of:
  • The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, East Bay Chapter
  • Postpartum Support International, and
  • Mt. Diablo Perinatal Psychotherapy Associates
I am also a Topic Expert on Postpartum Depression on www.GoodTherapy.org. In addition to psychotherapy services and support groups, I offer consultation and workshops regarding the prevention, identification and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and am available as a speaker on topics relating to maternal mental health.
