I help others take their power back. Too often the field of psychology focuses on what is wrong and spends an inordinate amount of time focusing on the negative. While this is an important piece of psychotherapy, gaining insight into what hasn’t been going right for us is extremely helpful; staying stuck there in our old patterns can be unproductive. I assist people as they search for their strengths, passions, and inherent brilliance. I have found that this inner search is a process of natural healing, and undertaken with guidance, can produce transformative results.

My unique value lies in my training; I received a Masters Degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University and am currently working on my Doctoral Dissertation for a PhD in Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. These two institutions specialize in working with the mind and its thoughts and behaviors, as well as the unconscious beliefs that may drive these thoughts and behaviors.

I have been working in the field of psychology for over 12 years, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. My practice is located in Beaverton. My interest in psychology began in my own early childhood, starting with my parents’ divorce and the confusing life issues which arose from that. It is said that most people who decide to work in the field of psychology are wounded healers in some manner and have done their own inner work and psychotherapy to better understand themselves, and, by extension, to better understand others. In other words, we not only have professional training, we often have experience in what you are going through, at least in some capacity. After I took a psychology course in high school I was hooked. After high school I went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Western Oregon University, followed by several years of living abroad. I then went on to receive the two advanced degrees mentioned above, and I have been working and studying in the field ever since.

My training affords me the ability to work within a wide range of issues and personalities. I do find that I am very effective in the individual psychotherapy setting, especially in working with adolescents and young adults. I am also effective in working with issues that pertain to men, and relationship difficulties between men and women. I also specialize in working with people who suffer from anxiety and depressive disorders, addictions, and spiritual matters. If you don’t feel like you “fit” into any of these areas of specialization please do not feel that you are unwelcome. As I said before, I am able to work with most any issue and if I cannot I will refer you to someone who can. Please feel free to contact me for a consultation or any questions you may have.
