Naudeya Richards View Specialties

Naudeya Richards was drawn to the counseling field by her true desire to help others as well as the natural characteristics she possesses as person. Naudeya is caring, compassionate and innately empathetic, which enables her to view the world through the eyes of others. This is an important quality for a therapist to possess as it enables her to identify what the client is experiencing. Having insight into the client's world, she can successfully guide him or her to make the best decisions and create individualized strategies that work best for each client. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process during which the therapist works with the client to develop attainable goals, and learn skills to evoke and maintain change.

Naudeya has experience working with children, adolescents, families, and couples. She specializes in treating behavioral problems with children/adolescents, couples and families in crisis, and adults dealing with issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and difficulty managing emotions.

Naudeya has over twelve years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo) and is trained in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).

TF-CBT is an empirically based treatment protocol that helps children and adolescents cope with loss and trauma. It involves moving clients through a series of exercises that gradually exposes the client to the traumatic event while teaching him or her specific skills to manage distressing trauma related thoughts and feelings.

DBT can be used with both adolescents and adults. This therapy is designed for individuals who are struggling with issues such as emotional ups and downs, unhelpful reactions to stressful events, anger outbursts, difficulties maintaining healthy relationships with others, trauma and substance abuse. This evidenced based therapy combines psychoeducation along with developing cognitive and behavioral skills to manage negative thoughts and emotions. DBT therapists assume that clients are doing their best, but just do not have the necessary skills to regulate emotion and behavior.

Naudeya currently accepts the following insurance: Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Connecticare, Medicaid-Husky A, B, C, & D, And Untied Health Care/Oxford. The rate for clients who are paying out of pocket is $100.00
