North Florida Comprehensive Treatment Center View Specialties

North Florida Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) offers opioid addiction treatment services for adults age 18 and older in Jacksonville, Florida. Our premier outpatient addiction treatment facility uses evidence-based methods to help individuals achieve lasting recovery from opioid addiction.

North Florida CTC utilizes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which combines the use of prescription medication with individual and group therapy. MAT is a clinically proven approach to treating opioid addiction. Historically, methadone was the only medication available for MAT, and many treatment centers continue to administer MAT using methadone alone. Our facility offers the option of methadone or buprenorphine. We offer two MAT medications because this increases the efficacy of treatment. If one medication isn’t sufficiently providing a client with relief from withdrawal effects or cravings, our physicians can change either the medication or the dosage.

Opioid detox and the associated withdrawal symptoms produce a painful and difficult experience. Individuals who attempt to detox from opioids without medical support face serious health consequences and even the risk for death. Leaving behind addiction requires many internal and external changes. MAT is a unique tool that helps clients with all aspects of overcoming an addiction to opioids.

The experienced team at North Florida CTC consists of physicians, nurses, counselors, and other behavioral health specialists. Our facility’s use of MAT follows the recommendation of leading organizations like the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Organizations like these recommend MAT as the most effective method of treating opioid addiction. At North Florida CTC, we understand that overcoming opioid addiction requires work in more areas than physical relief from cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

The medication-assisted treatment program at North Florida CTC includes participation in group and individual therapy sessions with our staff counselors. In these sessions, clients can gain the tools to understand addiction, identify triggers, communicate effectively, make social changes, and heal relationships. Individual therapy sessions provide clients with individual attention, while group sessions give clients the opportunity to build a community of peers who are in recovery, which is a valuable tool for long-term support and understanding.

At North Florida CTC, we understand that the causes of addiction are often deeply tied to mental, emotional, and spiritual health. With the appropriate care and support, it’s possible to achieve healing. We help clients establish freedom from the desire to use opioids and support their lifelong recovery.
