Peter van Dyck, MD, ABPN, FAPA

Passion: Training: Dr. Peter van Dyck received his BA degree from Cornell University in 1974 and his MD degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1981. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at the UNC-Chapel Hill in 1986, and he has been Board-Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1987.

Experience: Dr. van Dyck has been a member of the American Psychiatric Association since 1983. He was named Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 2003. He is also a member of the North Carolina Psychiatric Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors. Dr. van Dyck currently serves as Medical Director of the office, supervising clinical care. He provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management.

Maria Wood, MEd, LPC, NCC, BCPCC 
 

Passion: My approach to therapy is influenced by several factors including my own personal journey of faith as well as her training in counselor education, psychology, and empirically validated interventions. These interventions are based in family systems theory, attachment theory, neuroscience, and trauma resolution

Training: Masters in Counselor Education, UNC-Greensboro and Bachelor of Arts Psychology, UNC-Chapel HillHer experience working with clients for the past 26 years, in both inpatient and outpatient settings, along with her training, allows her to collaborate with you regarding the approach or approaches that best suit your needs.

Experience: She is solution-focused and will integrate empirically sound clinical interventions along with biblical principles to help you resolve current problems or life-long patterns. These principles are not imposed upon any client, and she welcomes you to be an active participant in meeting your therapy goals.

    Passion:
     
    Training: Jennifer Ennis obtained her RN in 1968 from the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She has worked in psychiatric nursing since 1975. She has been Certified in Psychiatric Nursing since 1988 by the American Nurse Credentialing Center. She has had experience providing services in Mental Health Center, drug and alcohol rehab, and inpatient settings.
     
    Experience:  Jennifer and her husband Ralph have has been on staff with the Navigators since 1975. This has given Jennifer a broad range of experience counseling individuals and couples nationally and internationally while traveling and living overseas.

    Jennifer currently offers individual counseling to adults, both women and men. Treatment areas include sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, addiction, cross-cultural issues and adjustments, premarital and marital counseling, codependency and other relationship issues.


    Amy H. Elder, MA, LPC 

     Passion: Training:Amy Elder earned a BA in Psychology from Vanderbilt University. She obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary. Amy became a Licensed Professional Counselor after her move to North Carolina.She is a certified Life Coach, with the following specialty areas: ADHD, parenting, and life purpose. Amy is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She serves on the board of Faithful Hearts, a ministry to women in the Triangle area. She is also the counseling and life coaching director for Faithful Hearts. 
    Experience:  She has worked in the mental health field for several years, in inpatient and outpatient settings, providing individual and group therapy for adults and adolescents. Amy currently offers individual, premarital, and marital therapy to women and men. She treats depression, anxiety, addictions, grief and loss, ACOA, and ADHD. She is able to address anger management, relationship concerns, life skills, career, and end of life issues. Amy is also able to address church leadership concerns, such as pastoral burn-out.
     
    Bobby V. Elder, MA 
    Passion:
     Training:Bobby Elder earned a BA in Psychology from Oral Roberts University in 1985. He obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary in 1995.
     
    Experience: He has had a wide range of counseling experience. At the Denver Seminary counseling center, he provided counseling for children, teens, adults, and families. At Providence House (a halfway house for teens and adults) he provided emotion, spiritual, life-skills, and vocational counseling. He has served on the pastoral staff as a youth minister in two churches.

    Bobby currently offers individual, premarital, and marital counseling to men and women. His areas of interest include:

    • Men's issues, including: relationship issues, identity concerns, burn-out and other career issues, workaholism, sexual addiction, pornography, anger management
    • Depression, grief and loss
    • Attachment and relationship issues
    • Working with pastors and church leadership concerns, such as pastoral burn-out
    • Working with members of the military and their families
    • Working with teens and their families on concerns such as: anger management, pornography
    • Working with athletes on issues such as: performance issues, injury management, team building
