Presque Isle Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in Presque Isle, Maine, is a premier outpatient addiction treatment center for adults age 18 and older. Our facility provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for people who are battling opioid addictions. Medication-assisted treatment is a form of opioid addiction treatment that combines the use of FDA-approved prescription medications with counseling services like individual therapy and group therapy.

At the core of our treatment philosophy is developing individualized treatment plans for each of our patients. We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to addiction recovery, and we work tirelessly to help everyone who receives care with us get the specific treatment that is best for them. As such, we offer two different medication options. The first option, methadone, has decades of research supporting its effectiveness in helping people overcome opioid addiction. This medication can help you manage withdrawal symptoms and prevent the effects of post-acute withdrawal, letting you get back to your daily activities with minimal disruption. In addition, we offer buprenorphine for people who would benefit from this medication as opposed to methadone. Buprenorphine works as a partial opioid agonist. This means that it targets the same receptors as prescription painkillers or illicit opioids while not producing euphoric effects. Like methadone, this medication can reduce or even eliminate withdrawal symptoms, improve functioning, and help people maintain long-term recovery.

In addition to prescription medication, the staff at our treatment center also offers individual and group therapies. In individual therapy, you will meet one-on-one with one of our counselors to discuss things such as your personal history, the reasons you use opioids, and how you can change your behaviors to be more aligned with your goals for recovery. In group therapy, several patients meet together with a counselor to discuss their experiences, strengths, and hopes. Group therapy can be a valuable outlet for people who are new to recovery, as it lets them know that they are not alone and that recovery is possible. Many people find it motivating to give and receive encouragement and support to and from their peers. The power of the group cannot be understated. We believe it is an essential part of any addiction treatment program.
