I have always found the job of a clinical psychologist to be most fascinating, as I have the privilege of working with numerous, unique Individuals every day, each bringing their own life story and personal perspective to the mix. I believe that within us, we all possess a strong, built-in desire to move toward emotional health, and the psychotherapy herapy process is just a way to help unlock and realize that healing potential. While we are able to share some unique tools and perspectives to assist an individual in healing, sometimes it is our job to merely remind a client of what they already know, but have forgotten to use in their own lives. I do not employ a heady, intellectual, textbook approach in dealing with clients, but rather see therapy evolving out of a warm, genuine, empathetic connection with my clients. Individuals working with me will often hear me say "This is not rocket science", and I strive to make the therapy process as practical and useful as I possibly can. I very much look forward to meeting you, and working with you, as a collaborative team, in order to achieve your goals toward emotional growth and healing. Let me now briefly explain the client types I typically work with, and the approaches I often use.

I have worked extensively with both individual clients, as well as couples. I specialize in helping clients with the following issues: affective disorders (e.g., depression), anxiety problems (panic, OCD, generalized anxiety, and social anxiety), and marital issues. I frequently work with helping clients to rapidly resolve trauma issues, including childhood abuse. I also work with stress issues, health psychology, and sleep problems. The full range of psychological testing, including intelligence and personality testing, is also available. Many of my clients are self-pay (to avoid insurance hassles), but I do accept Medicare, Tricare, and some PPO plans (e.g., BCBS).

I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as brief therapy approaches, to assist clients in achieving a relatively rapid resolution of their problems and difficulties.   I do not believe in encouraging my clients to be overly dependent on the therapy process,  but rather strive to empower them to function as independently as they can.

I am a Christian, and my faith is very important to me. However, I NEVER  proselytize or push the "faith issue" on my clients indiscriminately.  In fact, I have been told by many clients that I am very "nonjudgmental" and "supportive" in my approach to working with them.

I am now pleased to offer video therapy sessions, on a self-pay basis ( video - based therapy is not currently covered by health insurance reimbursement). Video therapy offers a realistic, efficient, and highly effective alternative to traditional face-to-face counseling sessions. If you are interested in setting up a video therapy session with me, please feel free to email me, or call, in order to learn more information about this therapy option.

If you have any other questions about me, my therapy approach, or other relevant information, please do not hesitate to email me or call me directly. I will respond to such questions at no charge, just as soon as I am able. I look forward to working with you.
