St. Lucie Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) provides outpatient opioid addiction treatment for adults age 18 and older in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Our premier treatment facility offers a comprehensive approach to treating opioid addiction through the use of medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

Medication-assisted treatment combines the use of prescription medication with talk therapy. Clinical research on MAT shows such high success rates that it is recommended by respected organizations like the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). St. Lucie CTC uses MAT to help clients stop using opioids and heal the underlying mental health concerns and social factors that have the potential to lead to relapse.

The medications used in MAT work on the physical level to alleviate the severe withdrawal symptoms that occur when a person suddenly stops using opioids and on the psychological level by relieving opioid cravings. Constantly battling opioid cravings takes a serious psychological toll, and it’s a leading cause of relapse. By taking the medications used in MAT, clients have a better chance of avoiding relapse.

Clients at St. Lucie CTC can receive prescriptions for methadone, buprenorphine, and Suboxone. The specific medication that a person is prescribed depends on their medical history, their current drug use, their history of substance use, and additional individual factors. The medications used in MAT have proved to be safe and effective when administered and monitored by trained professionals. The team at St. Lucie CTC works with each client to ensure that they receive the right medication and the right dosage, and then closely monitors them so that adjustments can be made if needed.

At St. Lucie CTC, we also provide individual and group counseling services to complement the use of prescription medications. Our group counseling sessions are designed to offer addiction education, teach communication and coping skills, and allow clients to give and receive support to and from their peers. Individual counseling involves meeting one-on-one with a counselor in a supportive environment to discuss personal concerns that clients might not feel comfortable sharing in a group setting. Counselors can help clients monitor recovery progress and provide feedback on addressing challenges that they may be facing. Our counselors can guide clients as they make changes to family, social, and work relationships that will support an opioid-free lifestyle.

Clients at St. Lucie CTC are asked to take an active role in their recovery process. When individuals are empowered with the right tools and support, they learn that it’s possible to gain freedom from opioid addiction.
