Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems is located in Lafayette, Louisiana. We offer programs for adolescents ages 12-17 and adults age 18 and older. Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems is both a mental health treatment center and an addiction treatment center. We provide caring, effective treatment for a variety of addictions and mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD. We are the leading addiction and mental health treatment center in Lafayette. Our mission is to create an optimal treatment experience for each person who is entrusted to our care and to treat each unique patient with the compassion and dignity they deserve. Programs at Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems include adolescent inpatient, adult inpatient, detox, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization. We are the only provider of adolescent inpatient services in the region. Our program is designed for adolescents who have substance use or mental health concerns or a dual diagnosis. Treatment plans are individualized and may include therapies such as crisis intervention, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. Topics addressed during therapy include social skills, conflict resolution, anger management, and relapse prevention. We maintain three treatment tracks for the adolescent inpatient program: psychiatric services, chemical dependency services, and dual diagnosis services. For many patients who have chemical dependency concerns, detox is the first step in their recovery journey. Our staff is committed to making the detox experience as safe and comfortable as possible for each patient. If medications are appropriate, they are closely monitored by our experienced medical staff. Our detox program is founded on the 12-Step recovery model. We also support the Rational Recovery model for patients who do not relate to the concept of a higher power. The adult inpatient program offers treatment for men and women who have psychiatric, addiction, and dual diagnosis concerns. Patients undergo several assessments and evaluations to determine or confirm a diagnosis and conclude if inpatient treatment is appropriate. Therapy topics include medication education, relapse prevention, mental health education, and the development of new coping skills. A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is available for adults who do not need 24-hour care but would still benefit from supervision during the day. Partial hospitalization can be viewed as a step-down for patients who are transitioning from inpatient care. Disorders and concerns addressed in our PHP include depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, grief, anger, impulse control, and co-occurring substance use disorders. Treatment lasts from morning to afternoon and includes a variety of evidence-based therapies. Intensive outpatient program (IOP) services are offered for patients who have completed either the partial hospitalization program or inpatient treatment. The treatment schedule requires participation in five groups, three days a week, for a total of 15 therapy sessions each week. Lunch and transportation are provided for those who need it. The length of stay for most IOP patients is six weeks. Our IOP helps individuals improve their coping skills and meet their wellness goals. Continuing care is critical to the success of long-term addiction recovery. At Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems, we provide thorough aftercare programs to help patients plan for their transition from inpatient treatment. Our social services staff works closely with a patient’s treatment team to develop an individualized treatment plan that best supports their needs.
