A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Abby Schoenberg brings warmth, depth, and clinical expertise to her work with individuals, families, and couples. Her approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, with an emphasis on collaboration, empowerment, and respect for each person’s unique life story. Abby creates a therapeutic space where clients feel truly seen and supported—where healing is possible and growth is nurtured.

Drawing from an integrative framework, Abby weaves together psychodynamic, narrative, relational, and client-centered modalities. Her work is rooted in the understanding that each client’s experience is shaped by a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and environmental influences. When appropriate, she integrates evidence-based practices such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, play therapy, and Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET). This flexible, personalized approach allows her to meet clients exactly where they are.

Abby specializes in trauma and grief, supporting children, adolescents, and adults in reclaiming their lives after overwhelming experiences. Her clinical focus includes anxiety and mood disorders across the lifespan, as well as relational issues, especially in parent-child dynamics and couples seeking deeper connection. She is particularly skilled in helping clients navigate grief and loss—including the profound pain of child loss—and in supporting those recovering from abuse, neglect, or family conflict. Additionally, she helps clients strengthen identity, rebuild self-esteem, and find new meaning in their lives.

Abby holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Psychological Trauma Studies from Antioch University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Visual and Environmental Studies from Harvard University, with a minor in English and American Literature. She is licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and has completed advanced training in psychodynamic therapy, early childhood mental health (ages 0–5), and complex grief. She is a certified provider of both EMDR and Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy.
With a professional background in community mental health and a deep commitment to equity and antiracism, Abby has worked extensively with foster youth, underserved communities, and clients navigating systems of oppression. She brings both clinical rigor and human connection to her work, honoring each client’s resilience and capacity for change.
