Acadiana Treatment Center, located in Sunset, Louisiana, is a leading residential treatment center for adolescents age 12-17 who are struggling with mental health concerns. If you are searching for residential behavioral health treatment center for a child, you need a program that is not only focused on treating the symptoms they are suffering from, but also on helping them discover a brighter future. At Acadiana, we strive to do exactly that. Our residential program is designed for children and teens who have not had successful outcomes after participating in outpatient or inpatient treatment. We serve clients who are struggling with symptoms of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, conduct disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder, among others. The average length of stay at our treatment center is four to six months; however, the actual amount of time a young person spends in treatment is based on their individual needs and treatment progress. At Acadiana Treatment Center, we believe that each child is unique and that in order for treatment to be successful, they must have an individualized plan of care that addresses their specific needs and treatment goals. Prior to starting treatment, each child will receive a thorough assessment where our team will collect information about their background, including their medical history, details on previous treatment, and an overview of the symptoms they’re experiencing. We will then use the results of this assessment to create their individualized treatment plan. As the child progresses in treatment, certain aspects of their treatment plan may be adjusted as a way to make sure they are getting everything they need. A client’s treatment plan may include individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. During these therapy sessions, our staff uses techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing. We also provide experiential therapies, including art therapy and equine therapy. The time adolescents spend participating in these various therapies can help them learn how to manage their symptoms and develop coping skills that can benefit them long after their time in treatment has come to an end. Examples of things that may be discussed and practiced in therapy sessions include communication, social skills, independent living skills, conflict resolution, and healthy boundaries. For clients who need to take medication, we also provide medication management services. Treatment at Acadiana is provided by a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals, including psychiatrists, licensed clinical professional counselors, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, dietitians, and recreational therapists. Our team takes a person-centered approach to treatment, providing compassionate, age-appropriate care in a safe and secure environment where adolescents can begin to heal. We believe that family members can play a significant role in a child’s healing process, so we offer family-oriented services that are designed to improve the family system and promote healthy communication between clients and their family members. We understand that choosing the right treatment center for a child is not easy, and we want to make the process as straightforward and seamless as possible. We want you to feel comfortable with your choice, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please reach out to us today.
