Alicia is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).  She brings over 16 years of experience to the field of clinical assessment and counselling. Alicia’s career started out in the forensic field and she continues to work in this field part time. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1995 and then went onto complete her Masters Degree in Professional Counseling (Counselling psychology) in 1998.  She began her work in private practice that same year and has maintained this practice ever since.  In addition, she has worked for the Solicitor General, Correctional Services, National Parole Board, Community Corrections and Alberta Child and Family Services providing assessment, individual, family and group therapy. Although many of her contracts have been and continue to be focused on Assessment (Addictions, Parenting, At-Risk or High Risk behaviours, Personality etc), her clinical interests have always remained “Systems” oriented, heavily rooted in Attachment theory.  She brings her knowledge of this theory to counseling through the use of thorough assessment (including primary attachment relationships) and the creation of a truly individualized treatment plan for each couple (or individual) she works with.  In addition to her many years of clinical/assessment work and training, she also utilizes the Gottman method for couples (level II), Emotions Focused Therapy (EFT) by Les Greenberg and Susan Johnson, and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT).   This approach was developed by Stan Tatkin and provides a sound framework for the integration of other theories and interventions. PACT is heavily rooted in Attachment theory, developmental, neuroscience, psychobiological regulatory systems (including the neuroendocrine systems) and therapeutic enactment. It is developing into one of the most effective means for working with couples. Alicia has been involved in training and ongoing consultation (face to face) with founder, Stan Tatkin for over four years and will continue this ongoing consultation to ensure she is providing her couples with the best informed methods of practice. Check out Stan's blog or webiste at: for more information on this cutting edge couples therapy.

In addition to her clinical practice, Alicia has been a sessional instructor for both the Lethbridge Community College (Psychology Program) and the University of Lethbridge (Master of Counseling Education Program) since 2004.  She is married and has two young children around whom her schedule flexes. She is active with her family and enjoys many outdoor activities such as skiing, water sports, hiking and fishing.

She feels it is an honour to work with individuals and couples and would be honored to work with you.
