Andrea “Andy” Ruse, M.A., LCPC, LAC, CCDP-D, MARS, RPT:  I am currently working as the Kansas City Regional Treatment Consultant for American Addictions Centers, where I assist those in need trying to get into treatment and receive the help they need.  In an effort to create awareness about co-occurring (formerly known as dual-diagnosis) substance abuse and other mental health disorders, I also serve as a keynote speaker providing education for clinicians and the general public. 


Andy attended William Jewell College where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. From there she went on to obtain a certificate in Paralegal Studies from the University of Colorado-Pueblo. After working in the law as a paralegal, Andy went back to school to receive a Master of Liberal Arts in Social Sciences from Baker University. Following this, Andy attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling. After graduate school, Andy went on to Kansas City Play Therapy Institute to obtain a post-graduate certification in Play Therapy and pursued her credential of Registered Play Therapist. Andy’s credentials include: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (KS), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (KS), Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional-Diplomat (MO), Medication Assisted Recovery Specialist (MO), and a Registered Play Therapist. Andy also recently completed training to be certified as an Interventionist. Andy’s areas of interest include: couples’ counseling, mood disorders, personality disorders, DBT, domestic violence, trauma, childhood concerns, and substance abuse. Andy’s therapeutic orientations include: play therapy (ages 2-12), REBT, DBT, CBT, Family Systems Theory, and Client-Centered. Andy enjoys reading, watching & quoting movies, baking & eating dessert, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
