I truly believe treatment is a partnership between counsellor and client and will work with you to design an effective plan that recognizes your personal strengths and challenges. I use warmth, humour, and authenticity in my approach to make each client feel comfortable and to build a strong, positive therapeutic connection. I have experience using creative methods, such as games and movement activities, to connect with younger clients and spark their interest in the counselling process. I also support individuals with neurodiversity and their families.

My Style and Experience
While I primarily base my approach on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, a wide variety of treatment methods and interventions may be used depending on your needs, personality, and preferences. I am passionate about working with clients on relationship issues, life transitions, anxiety, and stress management. I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and completed an internship with Island Clinical Counselling. During my internship, I sought out specialized training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and treatment methods for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours such as hair pulling, skin picking, and nail biting. I enjoy the outdoors and have taken courses in Nature-based therapy. Outdoor sessions are offered to clients who are interested in and would benefit from this approach.

Additionally, I am a certified teacher and have worked with children, youth, and adults in multiple schools and community settings. I hold a certificate to teach English as a second language and welcome the opportunity to work with clients from diverse backgrounds or who are newcomers to Canada.

I have been fortunate enough to live and work in communities both in Canada and around the world that have taught me the importance of culturally sensitive, un-biased mental health service. I aim to provide counselling that honours each client’s perspective on healing and recognizes all the elements that intersect to make each of us our own unique person.

Session Fees
I offer a free 15-minute consultation for interested clients who would like to speak before booking. Full sessions are $150 per 50 minute individual session. Family and couples sessions are $165 for 60 minutes or $215 for 90 minutes. A receipt is provided which can be submitted to your insurance company. I also offer sliding scale sessions on a case-by-case basis.

Virtual sessions are available by video or phone. For in-person appointments, the office is located at 4110-A 6th Ave. Port Alberni, BC.
