Therapy for Men
You're a man who keep things in. You've realized you can't go on like this though. You need to move forward even though you feel like you're in quick-sand. Talking is a start.

Know that most of us grow up not knowing how to deal with emotions. This may have looked like not talking about them at all or given the message to suck it up. That doesn't make feelings go away though. When we don't deal with things, it shows up in other ways. It shows up as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, anger, or physical health symptoms.

If you're at a place where you know something needs to shift, reach out. We can get some tools to improve your mood and better manage emotions and relationships.

Common themes in my practice for individual therapy:
  • Isolating/ Keeping people at a distance
  • Difficulty sharing with others/ Expressing emotions
  • Men's mental health
  • Confidence/ Being too critical of yourself
  • Anger management challenges
  • Wanting a better relationship with your spouse or children
  • Stress management
  • Low mood/ Depression

Couples Therapy
First and foremost, all long-term relationships and marriages struggle at some point. We are individuals who have our own separate lives and experiences. As individuals we come together to make our relationship. Our relationship is unique to the two of us. But because we evolve and change as individuals, so too does our relationship. Unfortunately, during the transition from who I am to who I am becoming, our relationship can get stuck on some bumps. Life transitions that cause those relationship bumps can be about becoming parents, loss of a loved one, career change, new goals, or mental health struggles for example.

Common themes in my practice for individual therapy:
  • Communication challenges
  • New parents
  • Walking on eggshells
  • Resentment
  • Relationship neglect
  • Infidelity
  • Feeling misunderstood
  • Separation transition
  • Difficulty with sharing/vulnerability
  • Emotional intimacy

In-person option for Thunder Bay. Online therapy also available for anyone in Ontario.

Schedule a phone consult though my website to book a time (no phone tag) or send an email christine@olsenpsychotherapy.com. If we are a good fit we can pick a time to get started.
