Is there something missing in your life?
People usually come to visit me because they want something more out of their life. Sometimes this is caused by a lack of meaning or a sense they are not living up to their full potential. Other times, they are struggling with depression, panic, anxiety, trauma or some kind of loss.
Psychotherapy really can help. It is often the only thing that leads to real, lasting change.
If you have tried therapy before without the results you'd like, it might be that you are the type of person who needs the deeper approach of psychoanalytic psychotherapy that helps you gain insight into who you are. And that helps you change the way you see and see the ways to change.
I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy from a Jungian orientation. The Jungian tradition, with its emphasis on the psychology of the unconscious, can help you liberate yourself from the pattens, compulsions, and unconscious behavior that cause so much unhappiness. Together we will work through the stickiness and stuck-ness that is holding you back, allowing you to become more aware and awake of your choices.
The goal of such work is not only to become more aware and awake but to become more authentic, The work is to realize who you are. This path is both deeply psychological and profoundly spiritual.
IN ADDITION to being a psychotherapist, I am a former tenured professor and the former director of The Salt Institute, where I worked with such leading figures in archetypal psychology as James Hillman, Linda Leonard, and David Miller. I have served on the board of directors for the International Association of Jungian Studies and the Foundation for International Training—Zurich, and I am the co-founder of a dream group that has been meeting for more than 15 years. I also hold a Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate Institute, the premiere training ground for depth psychology in the country, and a M.A. in counseling from Antioch University. In addition, I am currently a training candidate for certification as a Jungian Analyst.
I know from personal experience that psychotherapy does work. It can make your life richer and more meaningful, and it can make living more enjoyable.

INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY: I primarily offer psychotherapy in the Jungian tradition focused on insight, self-knowledge, and individual transformation. This work focuses around dream work and talk therapy. However, sometimes I also work in the humanistic and existential approach to counseling, influenced by the work of Carl Rogers, Rollo May, and Irvin Yalom. I’ve found that existential therapy seems to work well for clients who aren’t fully served by Jungian tradition.

COUPLES THERAPY: I offer therapy to couples in both traditional and non-traditional unions, using the model of Emotionally Focused Therapy. This is a short-term therapy, usually 10-15 sessions, designed to reduce conflict and help couples learn how to communicate and reconnect.

BRIEF STRATEGIC THERAPY: For select clients who are not interested in long-term therapy, I offer Brief Strategic Therapy, usually lasting from a couple of sessions to three months.
