INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

People usually come to visit me because they want something more out of their life. Sometimes this is caused by a lack of meaning or a sense they are not living up to their full potential. Other times, they are struggling with depression, panic, anxiety, trauma or loss. This work often focuses around dream work or talk therapy. However, I also work in the humanistic and existential approaches to counseling, influenced by the work of Carl Rogers, Rollo May, and Irvin Yalom. I’ve found that existential therapy seems to work well for clients who aren’t fully served by Jungian tradition.

COUPLES THERAPY:

I offer therapy to couples using the model of Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT). EFT is a short-term therapy, usually 12-20 sessions, designed to reduce conflict and help couples learn how to communicate and reconnect. EFT is highly researched and significantly improves relationships in about 75 percent of the cases.

WHO I AM

IN ADDITION to being a psychotherapist, I am a former tenured professor and the former director of The Salt Institute, where I worked with such leading figures in archetypal psychology as James Hillman, Linda Leonard, and David Miller. I have served on the board of directors for the International Association of Jungian Studies and the Foundation for International Training—Zurich. I also hold a Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate Institute, the premiere training ground for depth psychology in the country, and a M.A. in counseling from Antioch University. In addition, I am currently a training candidate for certification as a Jungian Analyst.
