East Portland Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is a premier outpatient addiction treatment center located in Portland, Oregon. We provide opioid addiction treatment services for adults age 18 and older. Services available at East Portland CTC include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which combines the use of prescription medications with counseling.

The team of behavioral health specialists at East Portland CTC includes counselors, nurses, and physicians. We create a supportive, welcoming environment for clients as they take the first important steps forward toward a life in recovery. Our programs are designed to support healing and growth on all levels — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Our MAT program supports individuals as they learn to overcome opioid addiction in a professional environment. Medication-assisted treatment at East Portland CTC involves a prescription for methadone, buprenorphine, or Suboxone. Effective treatment requires an individualized care plan based on unique client needs. The specific medication a physician chooses for a client is determined by factors including medical history, mental health history, and substance use history. Every client is carefully supervised, and physicians work to adjust or alter dosage and medication as needed to best support client comfort and success.

Medication-assisted treatment plays a crucial role in helping clients successfully stop using opioids. This form of treatment was designed specifically to counter the serious effects of opioid use. High physical dependence and severe withdrawal symptoms make it extremely difficult for individuals to stop using opioids. The medications prescribed in MAT work to counter withdrawal effects, relieve cravings, and reduce the effects of opioids should relapse occur.

MAT is a highly effective method of treating opioid addiction, and it’s the treatment approach recommended by leading organizations like the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The behavioral health professionals at East Portland CTC understand that medication is a powerful tool for combating opioid addiction, but this alone is not enough. Addiction impacts all aspects of a person’s health.

While physical dependence is a large part of opioid use disorder, mental, emotional, and spiritual elements also need to be addressed and healed to effect lasting change. Clients at our outpatient treatment center participate in both group and individual therapies as part of MAT. Our compassionate counselors work with groups and individuals to help clients learn coping skills and build a community of peer support. East Portland CTC knows that opioid addiction is devastating, but a comprehensive care approach can help clients build a strong foundation in support of lasting recovery.
