Ellen Craine, LMSW-clinical and macro, ACSW, JD, INHC
Licensed Clinical and Macro Social Worker | Founder, Craine Counseling and Consulting

I believe that healing begins with connection, and that each person carries within them the capacity to move forward, even in the face of life’s most painful challenges. My role as a therapist is to walk alongside you with empathy, insight, and respect as you find your path forward.

With over 30 years of experience in both clinical and macro social work, I offer compassionate, personalized support to individuals, couples, families, and children. I founded Craine Counseling and Consulting in 2019 to create a welcoming space where people can be seen, heard, and supported in navigating the complex emotional terrain of grief, relationships, life transitions, and ethical challenges in professional life.

I specialize in working with grief and loss in all its forms—whether related to death, divorce, illness, or other major life adjustments. I also bring a unique focus to helping families coping with pediatric cancer, no matter the prognosis.

My background includes working with relationship issues of all kinds, including spousal conflict, dating challenges, parent-child struggles, sibling issues, and co-parenting dynamics across married, divorced, or never-married partners.

No two people are the same, and I honor the bio-individuality of every client. My therapeutic approach is guided by curiosity, care, and a deep belief in your inner strength. Together, we’ll identify what works for you—at your pace, with your goals in mind.

In addition to my clinical work, I provide social work ethics consultations for individual practitioners, clinics, and attorneys. I’ve served on the Michigan-NASW Ethics Committee, including as past Chair, and have served as a Board Member for the Michigan chapter of NASW.

I am a continuing education instructor and have provided trainings for several institutions, including Michigan State University School of Social Work, University of Michigan School of Social Work,  NASW- North Carolina Annual Conference, NASW-Michigan, as well as several clinics.  I write nd publish regularly on social work ethics, caregiver support, and professional self-care.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan.

All sessions are currently offered remotelyle with limited in-person sessions available. I am an out-of-network provider and can provide the necessary forms for insurance reimbursement.

Let’s begin with a conversation. I offer a free 30-minute consultation so you can get a feel for how I work and whether it feels like a good fit.
