Have you been feeling down and overwhelmed with everything that's been happening lately? Having trouble coping with work and relationships? Feeling like you just don't measure up?
Or maybe your past has been rearing its ugly head, causing you pain, depression, and anxiety? Making you feel like you did something wrong and are now paying the price?
If you find yourself feeling stuck, if you're having difficulty coping with things, or life just isn't going as well as you think it should, counseling can help! I've been helping people with their issues for many years now and you don't have to be embarrassed to talk to me about anything! I truly like people and would like the opportunity to help you reach your goals and bring more happiness into your life.
I am a Licensed Counselor as well as an Occupational Therapist and will bring both of these perspectives into my work with you! I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship as well as that of purposeful activity. Because of this, I work very hard to establish a warm, safe and inviting atmosphere in which you can feel comfortable opening up. It is important that you feel respected and heard. Because of this, I am very careful to keep confidential any information that you share with me.
I will often assign "homework" for you to complete between scheduled sessions including something to read, an exercise to try, or maybe a short video to watch. I won't give you anything too time-consuming or any busy work- I would not waste your time like that! These tasks will be important to help you progress faster towards your goals. Therapy really is best done in a collaborative way with us working together as a team!
Counseling can help you to understand your past, and it can help you to become a better person for your future. It can help you to forgive those who've harmed you, even if it was you who harmed yourself. Counseling can help you to open yourself up to all that life has to offer. It can be a very powerful thing! Life really is all about using our time here to become better for ourselves and for our loved ones and I'd like to accompany you on that journey.
I work with adults and seniors with a variety of different issues. My areas of specialties include:
  • depression including Major Depression, Seasonal Affect Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, or feelings of sadness
  • anxiety including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, OCD,  phobias, or panic attacks, stress or "nerves"
  • trauma with a focus on survivors of childhood abuse or neglect, sexual abuse survivors, rape or assault survivors, and domestic violence survivors
  • Assistance with low self-esteem, difficulties setting boundaries in relationships, and negative self-talk
  • The management of chronic pain and chronic health conditions
  • Caregiver issues including stress, burnout, and feelings of isolation and depression

  • BS in psychology from Aquinas College
  • BS in Medical Sciences from Wayne State University
  • MA in Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University
  • MOT in Occupational Therapy from Wayne State University

  • Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS)
  • Certified Wound Care Specialist
  •  Advanced Grief Counseling Certification
  • Certificate in Pain Assessment and Management
  • EFT/tapping advanced training (Emotional Freedom Technique)
  • Advanced training in trauma
  • Advanced training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for use with anxiety, depression, pain management, and trauma

All my sessions currently are being conducted virtually via a secured video portal. It is similar to going to a meeting on Zoom or FaceTime, but it is much more secure so our conversations are kept private. Clients find it easy to use, as I'm sure you will as well.
And if you're worried that it's not as effective as in-person therapy, you can lay that to rest. Several studies have been done since the beginning of the pandemic which show that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person!

I do not work with any insurances at this time. This is because insurances will intrude into our therapy together in a number of different ways including limiting the number of sessions we may have, dictating what issues we can address, mandating that you be given a mental illness diagnosis, and compromising your confidentiality by conducting audits including review of all notes from our sessions together. Because of this, you will be charged at the time of our session. Rates currently are $80-$100.
I do not offer any sliding scale fees, but I do work with Open Path and provide discounted services on a limited basis for people who can not afford the full fees. Please check their website here for further details. And don't forget to look for me by name here!
I look forward to hearing from and working with you! Please contact me today via email or phone, and I promise to call you back within 24 business hours. I offer a free 15-min phone consultation. And if you need further information, please check out my website at
