Hi, I’m Dr. John Tzanos, PhD, a licensed psychologist providing secure online therapy for adults.

If it feels like you’re constantly managing your mind, replaying conversations, chasing certainty, trying to “figure it out,” or bracing for the next wave of anxiety, you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and high-functioning on the outside, yet privately exhausted from OCD loops, ADHD overwhelm, chronic worry, or the quiet heaviness of depression. Therapy can be a place where you stop having to perform, take a real breath, and learn a steadier way forward.

My approach is grounded in a simple idea: science + soul. I use evidence-based therapy that’s practical and effective, while also drawing from timeless human wisdom about how people suffer and how people heal. From Eastern traditions, I bring a gentle focus on awareness and acceptance: learning to notice thoughts and feelings without treating them like emergencies, and learning to meet discomfort with less fear and resistance. From Western traditions, I draw on themes of clarity, courage, and values: focusing on what you can control, letting go of what you can’t, and living with integrity even when life feels messy. You don’t need to “win” against your mind to have a meaningful life you need skills, support, and a clear direction.

A big part of our work often comes through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps you change your relationship with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and painful emotions. Instead of spending all your energy trying to get rid of uncertainty, we practice making space for it and still moving forward. Over time, many clients feel less stuck, less reactive, and more able to show up for their lives with steadiness and self-respect.

I specialize in helping adults with OCD, ADHD, anxiety and panic, depression, trauma and PTSD, insomnia, phobias, neurodiversity/ASD, and body-focused repetitive behaviors like skin picking or hair pulling. If any of these are part of your experience, we’ll work in a way that is tailored, structured, and compassionate, not one-size-fits-all.

In sessions, I aim to make therapy feel clear, practical, and deeply human. We’ll build an accurate map of what’s happening, your patterns, triggers, loops, and avoidance cycles and then turn insight into realistic steps that create change in your daily life. Depending on your needs, I integrate tools from ACT, CBT, ERP (a gold-standard approach for OCD and many anxiety patterns), CPT for trauma-related “stuck points,” and clinical hypnosis when it’s appropriate and helpful for calming the body, changing habits, or strengthening self-regulation.

Clients often tell me they spend less time trapped in mental loops and more time actually living. They become more able to tolerate uncertainty without compulsions or avoidance. They build follow-through with ADHD without relying on shame or perfectionism. They feel steadier emotionally less like life is happening “to” them and more able to make clear decisions that match who they want to be. Sleep often becomes more consistent, self-trust grows, and the day-to-day experience of life starts to feel lighter.

My style is calm, transparent, and warm. There’s no pressure to say things perfectly. We’ll move at a pace that respects your nervous system, while still helping you make real progress. Sustainable change is built through kindness and clarity not force.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions, share a little of what you’re dealing with, and see whether we feel like a good fit. Therapy is available in English and Greek.
