Laura's pronouns are she/her/hers.
Laura works at her private practice, Serenity Pathways Counseling. Laura works with her clients’ existing strength and resilience to navigate the path to success. She holds her LICSW in the state of MA and also practices in NH. She first became a social worker in 2012, and earned her status as Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2019. She has significant experience assisting clients with challenges that accompany mood disorders, trauma disorders, grief, and life transitions.
Who does Laura mainly work with?
Laura works primarily with clients that are: trauma survivors, clients who are navigating mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, clients who are experiencing grief, and clients who are struggling with life stress. Laura also assists clients who are experiencing relationship challenges, friendship challenges, and caregiver stress and burnout.
Clients receive therapy sessions that are always client-centered; clients are the “boss” in their sessions. Laura recognizes that all clients are unique, and sessions will be set up to meet client-specific needs. Laura’s approach is what is known as “holistic”, meaning she uses several peer reviewed intervention to assist her clients as needed.
When life challenges feel frightening or hopeless, Laura know that we are not supposed to “get over it” or “push through it” or “just tough it out”. One of the things that clients can expect to participate in during session is discussing challenges and deciding how to move forward despite the challenges. Our hardships should never ignored, they should be overcome.
How, exactly, can Laura help you?
First, clients can expect a non-judgemental environment for the therapeutic process takes place.
In each session, clients are empowered by using evidence-based methods that carve the way to emotional healing and confidence building. Laura looks forward to providing psychoeducation to clients. Psychoeducation is the teaching clients about their mental health, and why clients can be experiencing certain symptoms.
Psychoeducation teaches us about important mental health topics, such as: Why do we have physical reactions to emotions, or what exactly does a mental health diagnosis mean. Other methods that Laura uses in session are (but not limited to) DBT interventions, CBT interventions, communication education, building frustration tolerance, and how to strengthen emotional regulation skills.
The root cause of client’s challenges are identified in session, and Laura and clients pinpoint where grief, trauma, and stressful events have blocked the healing process. Laura supports clients as they work to overcome hardships that stand between them and the success they’re seeking.
