In a moment of stress, what is seemingly simple can be extremely challenging for anyone of us. Anyone who has gone through life’s difficulty or has had a personal experience in the healthcare system knows how scary and overwhelming things can feel. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for support and it does take an empathetic, compassionate, experienced and a non-judgmental therapist to appreciate those challenges to enable you navigate those systems, stressors and life’s transitions in general. I am a therapist who appreciates such complexities with empathy, compassion and understand our common humanity and needs.I am a clinical social worker with nearly 14 years of professional experience in health care, elder care (geriatric/ageing), elder abuse, life issues, Dementia care, consent and capacity, substitute decisions, family conflicts, communication, crisis intervention, life care planning, identity struggles, multiculturalism, immigrant children/youth, self-esteem and adjustment, post hospital recovery issues. I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Carleton University with specialty in adult Mental Health, General Adult Healthcare and Geriatric Health/Care. I also have a Master of Laws (LLM) from Lancaster University, UK with specialty in human, social, cultural rights and issues. I am member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) in good standing.I am very warm, a strong advocate, respectful of each person’s individuality and right to dignity, very ethical, professional and a person of integrity. I am very passionate about social justice, fairness, human dignity, equality and non-discrimination. I am very client-centred, inclusive and an advocate for individual autonomy, access to quality care/services for each person in our communities. Maintaining confidentiality is a personal conviction. My therapeutic approaches include strength-based, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative and solution focused therapy models. My goal in our engagement is to enable you discover your inner strengths, natural supports and capacities so you can achieve your therapeutic and personal goals.
