I’m Noah Rubinstein, MA, LMHC, a psychotherapist based in Washington State. I work with adults, elders, and couples, and I offer online therapy across Washington State by secure video or phone, as well as in person therapy in Olympia. My approach is warm, collaborative, and non judgmental, and it is grounded in the belief that people are doing the best they can, given what they have lived through.
For roughly 25 years, Internal Family Systems therapy, IFS, has been a guiding influence in my work. IFS is an empowering and non pathologizing approach that helps people understand the parts of themselves that carry pain, fear, shame, self doubt, or protective patterns. Rather than trying to fight or eliminate these parts, I help people approach themselves with greater curiosity, compassion, and understanding. As deeper wounds begin to heal, many people experience more calm, clarity, confidence, connection, hope, optimism, and freedom to be themselves.
I work with many thoughtful, high functioning people who may look fine on the outside but feel burdened, stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected on the inside. I commonly help people with anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss, relationship and marriage problems, people pleasing, perfectionism, self doubt, impostor syndrome, childhood abandonment and neglect, anger, emotional withdrawal, compulsive coping patterns, and questions related to meaning, purpose, and spiritual growth.
Online therapy can be a powerful option for people with busy lives, people who live anywhere in Washington and want to work with me specifically, and people who find it easier to open up from the privacy of home. Therapy does not lose its depth because it happens through a screen. In many cases, meeting by video or phone makes it easier to be consistent, reflect more deeply, and do meaningful inner work without the stress of commuting.
