Panhandle Comprehensive Treatment Center View Specialties

Panhandle Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is the premier outpatient addiction treatment center in Pace, Florida. We provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older of all genders.

MAT is designed to assist people who are seeking recovery from opioid addiction. Opioids are a class of drugs that include prescription painkillers, heroin, and fentanyl. MAT is a well-researched, evidence-based approach to addiction treatment that combines the use of prescription medications with counseling. The medications used in MAT help relieve withdrawal symptoms. Opioid withdrawal can cause painful symptoms and severe cravings. Eliminating these side effects allows patients to focus on other aspects of their treatment.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and other respected health organizations recommend MAT as a safe and effective method of helping patients build a sturdy foundation for long-term opioid addiction recovery. Traditional methadone clinics are only authorized to prescribe methadone. At Panhandle CTC, we realize that a single medication is not the answer for everyone. We can prescribe methadone and buprenorphine to help ensure that every patient receives effective care.

Group and individual counseling sessions are equally important parts of our MAT program. People who have struggled with opioid addiction are often affected by guilt, shame, hopelessness, and other negative feelings. Counseling provides a chance for them to talk about those feelings with a professional mental health counselor. In individual counseling, patients can feel free to share past traumas and discuss sensitive matters that they might not want to discuss in a group.

In group counseling sessions, peers come together to provide support and learn from one another’s experiences with addiction and recovery. Group counseling provides a chance to practice new skills, such as effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Meeting with other MAT patients in a therapeutic setting also offers the added benefit of building a recovery network. Patients gain valuable information from both types of counseling sessions. With the right support, they learn to identify the personal triggers that might lead to relapse and develop the skills they need to maintain recovery once treatment is over.

At Panhandle CTC, you can expect to work with a team that is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care. Each patient must complete a thorough health assessment so that our staff can identify their needs. We understand that each person’s recovery is a personal experience that deserves individual attention, and we encourage patients to ask questions and take ownership of their recovery process.
