You haven’t been able to get on the same page about parenting issues.

It’s gotten to the point where it consumes your conversations and the whole relationship. You remember being happy before children, but now it’s constant fighting.

You’re committed to the relationship and to understanding your partner better.

You know it’s not as easy as convincing your partner to come over to “your side” or finding a magical, overnight fix. You’re looking for therapy because you haven’t been able to compromise on your own, but you know it’s necessary for the wellbeing of both your relationship and your child(ren). You’re ready to do the hard work in couples therapy, especially because you understand that it sets your child(ren) up for success.

As your couple's therapist, my goal/priority is to eventually work myself out of a job.

Here’s what I mean ...

Most of the couples I work with are in therapy with me for about 6 months. They come in because they are having trouble agreeing on parenting differences and they leave knowing how to compromise without feeling like they lost, bent too much, or their needs don’t matter.

Therapy that's goal-oriented:

Based on decades of science and research. We'll focus on solutions like:

Tackling arguments you have over and over and finding ways to compromise.
How to bring up an emotional topic without starting a fight.
How to apologize after a fight.
Finding adjustments that need to be made in the relationship, so it lasts a lifetime.

Therapy that's structured:

There will be a clear assessment phase where I'll be exploring each of your perspectives. We'll collaboratively set goals together based on your relationship needs like, improving communication or learning how to fight fairly. The treatment time will be geared towards each goal, based on real-life examples that you bring in. And you'll have opportunities to practice the skills in-between sessions, like the art of compromise and building love maps.

Therapy that's strength-based:

You can expect me to use your strengths as a couple (which you DO have) to help you relieve some of the tension and stress that comes from constant arguing about kid-related matters.
Therapy that's direct:

I won’t be afraid to tell you my perspective or to compassionately call you out when needed. Let's call it like it is - this is not a one-party issue!
Therapy that's guaranteed:

Guaranteed to be a safe space that is free from judgment and free of pot-stirring. Culturally mindful, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and sex positive.
