Salem Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) provides outpatient addiction treatment for adults age 18 and older in Salem, Oregon. Our premier addiction treatment program offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which combines the use of prescription medication with individual and group counseling. Unlike traditional methadone clinics, our leading addiction treatment facility offers four different medication options for individuals who are receiving medication-assisted treatment: methadone, Suboxone, naltrexone, and buprenorphine.

All MAT medications used at Salem CTC are approved by the FDA and clinically proven to increase recovery outcomes. MAT medications work by producing effects similar to those of opioids, which significantly reduces withdrawal symptoms and cravings. However, MAT medications don’t produce the type of negative effects that accompany opioid use, like drowsiness and disorientation. They also block the euphoric effects of opioids, which helps clients stay focused on treatment and recovery. Addiction to drugs like heroin, fentanyl, or prescription opioids takes a serious toll on mental and emotional health. MAT medications provide further assistance by helping to stabilize brain chemistry. This makes MAT a valuable tool for helping clients stay away from opioids and get the greatest benefit from counseling sessions.

MAT at Salem CTC uses both individual and group therapies in conjunction with medication. While medication offers short-term support and stabilization, our counseling sessions are designed to facilitate long-term healing. We employ two different forms of counseling at Salem CTC because each has its own benefits. Group sessions offer the opportunity for clients to learn effective communication and conflict resolution skills. These are crucial skills for clients to learn and continue relying on long after a treatment program ends. Group sessions also give clients the benefit of having an understanding community of peers in recovery. Individual counseling sessions give clients dedicated attention. A counselor helps clients address concerns like co-occurring mental health conditions, unresolved trauma, relational challenges, and environmental factors.

Clients receive effective, targeted guidance when they work one-on-one with a counselor. All clients at Salem CTC undergo an evaluation at intake and receive a unique treatment plan. Some clients may only need medication as a form of short-term relief during the detox process, while others might benefit from medication for a longer period. The type of medication prescribed for a client is determined by many factors, including recovery goals, length of opioid use, and medical history. Opioid addiction impacts each person differently. This means that treatment should acknowledge and respect individual needs. At Salem CTC, we strive to give every client the care they require to achieve lasting recovery from opioid addiction.
