I have worked in the field of addictions and mental health since 2008 in array of settings including behavioral treatment centers for behavioral adolescents, residential addictions programs, outpatient addictions counselling and as a psychologist in private practice.  I can help adolescents and adults in individual therapy with addictive disorders, mood and anxiety disorders and those who are partners or family members who are surviving from being in relationships with people in active addiction.  I have facilitated workshops for professionals on the topics of sex addiction and the neurobiology of a addictive disorders.
My specialized training is in trauma and addictions, with a focus on sex addiction and I am Certified Sex Addiction Therapist.  My focus in helping people recover from feeling out of control and lost is to first attune to my client and then focus the intervention on making meaning about feelings that promotes what we call differentiation, or becoming more "uniquely you".
I also come from a perspective of lived experience.  The basis of psychotherapy is that of a human connection and it's important to find someone with who you can relate, build trust and feel safe with.  I hold an understanding of addiction and mental health that cannot be learned from getting degrees or reading books about the subject and I know what it's like to be in therapy and in support groups.   I don't share this about myself lightly, I do in case you need to meet with someone with which you will be able to relate to about your darkest self and know you are understood.
I use assessments and an integrative assimilative approach that includes developmental theory of attachment and affect regulation as well as cognitive behavioral, mindfulness and experiential therapies.
The cost is 180 dollars per session.  I direct bill with Blue Cross, and also provide receipts for insurance reimbursement.
I have a Masters of Arts degree in Counselling psychology, and Addictions Studies Certificate and am a Certified Sex Addiction therapist.  I am growing all the time as a person and as a professional, I enjoy taking new seminars and belong to a psychologists competency cooperative book club.  My next area of focus will be to start training in Somatic Experiencing, a trauma focused integrated mind-body therapy developed by Peter Levine M.D.
In my spare time I enjoy rock climbing, running, hiking, dog parks and dining out.  My favorite Netflix show at the moment are Mindhunter and in my former life I played guitar and sang in a band in Montreal.
