EDUCATION

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Mars Hill Graduate School (currently, The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology) in 2005 after 3 years of graduate studies. Prior to my graduate work, I attended Seattle Pacific University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  I am trained in multiple approaches to mental health therapy including psychodynamic, object relational, existential, and cognitive behavioral as a direct result of my rich and varied clinical experiences helping children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples.

EXPERIENCE

Psychotherapist at Prodigal Counseling. I have been in private practice since 2005.

Practicum Leader at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. For 3 years I taught and led small groups of graduate level students studying to become therapists.

Certified Family Preservation Therapist with the State of Washington. I contracted with Washington State to assist at-risk families in their homes with basic communication and life skills.

Family Advocate at Lake Forest Park Elementary in the Shoreline School District.  My 3 years of work at the school included assisting families and students with basic needs, parenting skills, conflict resolution, and individual therapy.

Case Manager at Olive Crest.  As a Case Manager at this foster and adoption agency in Bellevue, WA, my job was to help children make a smooth transition into new foster homes. This included interviewing and preparing prospective foster families for the unique work of foster care, providing mental health therapy for the children when needed, and managing the needs of both children and parents throughout the foster placement.

Mental Health Specialist at Swedish Medical Center.  I worked for 4 years as a Mental Health Specialist in Swedish's voluntary, psychiatric inpatient unit, treating and working with both young and old struggling with severe mental illness.
