The BIO of Sherri Scott-Berner            Sherri Scott-Berner, is firstly a wife and mother of two young adults, who works as a Psychological/CBT,  working along side Adults, Youth, and those struggling with Marriage and Sex related areas.   Her private practice is located in South Surrey, BC where she specializes in “last ditch” marital cases as well as Depression, Anxiety, Career Adjustments, and Parenting Issues.

She and her husband have owned , for six years, one of the first Christian Internet Counselling websites in North America that concentrates on helping married couples who feel either the passion or friendship in their marriage has diminished; or those who are hoping to awaken passion or friendship that has never been there from the start.

Sherri is also in the midst of writing a book which addresses reigniting the passion in the bedroom and jump staring  the friendship couples once had.  She has also developed a game that promotes good communication which she is awaiting publication, and spearheading an organization that promotes "standing" for one's marriage.

(Sherri)  "We don't just talk about it" is my slogan. (You can even see it on my truck if you catch me out and about.)   I want couples out there, (especially the men out there), to know that my counselling style is a... "fix-it" style.  I don't spend endless hours hashing over each emotionally charged story of your married life, instead, we look at where you are, where you wish to be, and from there... "we" can devise a plan of how to get there."

With an accompanying degree as a Paralegal,  and graduating with ‘Highest Honors', Sherri has expert  experience on the destructiveness of  divorce, and uses  an upfront and casual counselling style to help steer couples in  the direction of healing their marriages in a proactive fashion.

Producing,  directing and acting, remains close to Sherri’s heart, which she  demonstrates by working with community adult and children’s theatre, an  experience that she uses to facilitate psychodrama and group therapies

It is not uncommon to be welcomed by Sherri sporting blue jeans,  bare feet, and a steaming pot of hot tea - clearly coming off more like the "girl next door" more than your typical stereo typed therapist.  However,  don't let that fool you - she still means business, and she gives out the homework to prove it.

Sherri has also worked as a youth leader, helping to lead programs, activities and addressing many emotional topics plaguing young teen today which include: parental problems, premarital sex, rape, teen pregnancy, drugs and drinking, addictions, suicide, school pressures, employment/career planning, personality testing, and peer relationships.

These related attributes help Sherri holistically work with  couples, adult individuals and youth, in many different counselling arenas with her cognitive/behavioral approach; thus  assisting her clients move on to more successful, meaningful marriages, relationships and lives, in as short as ‘six’ sessions, or  ‘one’ of her weekend “Intensive Workshops”.

(Sherri)  ”I have worked with many couples who are struggling in their marriages... especially within those intimate arenas (whether infidelity, or just sexual incompatibility)... for seven years now.   With the negative influences of the Internet on our society, monogamous couples are the perfect targets for their marriages to be affected by destructive forces. "

(Sherri)   "Unfortunately there is not much help out there for couples who have been raised with spiritual/religious beliefs in the arena of sexuality, or the guilt associated with sex that may have been initiated during childhood.  OR, there may have been sexual trauma during childhood to young adulthood, with the affects still negatively affecting their marriages today. '

(Sherri)  "I have lived a life full of experiences, and have had no lack of struggles myself.  Being a survivor of these situations gives me an edge in helping others...I'm not just the book knowledge type, but in many areas I may have walked in your shoes at some time in my life.  I feel WITH my clients and believe that may be what sets me apart from other professionals at times; and I truly and sincerely want to see them succeed in their lives and hope to be the one to catapult  them into that much needed direction of healing."

MY AIM…  is to provide my clients with hands-on cognitive/behavioral type therapy, ( whether in private practice, group setting, or in a semi- seminar type environment) to help them  achieve  important techniques to better understanding themselves, cope with life safely and effectively,  improve  communication to safeguard their lives in all arenas, as well as deal with abusive, or sexual issues and questions that the majority of individuals don’t feel comfortable discussing with their doctor, their friends or family, their spouse, and especially their pastor.

"Most importantly, my goal is to create an atmosphere that is comfortable for you, and a relationship between the two of us that allows you to share without fear of judgement or fear for your emotional safety."
