Volusia County Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is a leading provider of opioid addiction treatment in Port Orange, Florida. Our outpatient addiction treatment center helps adults age 18 and older gain lasting freedom from opioid addiction.

Volusia County CTC offers clients medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which combines the use of prescription medications with individual and group counseling. MAT medications work by allowing clients to immediately stop opioid use, and the counseling sessions help clients address the internal and external factors that contribute to opioid addiction.

Clients at Volusia County CTC begin treatment with a prescription for a medication. MAT is an effective method of treating opioid use disorder, and decades of clinical study has shown that it brings high client success rates. In fact, it’s the opioid addiction treatment method recommended by organizations like the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

For decades, methadone was the only medication available for MAT. More recent research has shown that other medications can be equally effective, yet many clinics continue to offer methadone alone. Volusia County CTC seeks to improve client success rates by offering three MAT medications. Clients at our Port Orange treatment center have access to methadone, Suboxone, and buprenorphine. Offering a range of MAT medications is the approach recommended by the FDA to best increase the chances of successful treatment. If one medication does not effectively relieve opioid withdrawal symptoms and cravings, our physicians can prescribe an alternative.

The goal of MAT medications is to help clients fully recover from opioid addiction. Their short-term use lends physical support as clients detox from opioids. Some clients may require medication as a form of recovery maintenance for a period as they grow accustomed to living without opioids. MAT medications are a valuable tool for helping clients develop physical and mental stability as they create new habits and learn to thrive while moving forward from opioid addiction.

Clients who take part in medication-assisted treatment at Volusia County CTC are also paired with an individual counselor and a therapy group. Our clients can receive individualized care, support, and guidance in one-on-one counseling sessions. Our counselors help clients monitor recovery progress and are available to discuss personal concerns a client may not be comfortable sharing in group sessions. Our group therapy sessions provide clients with addiction education, coping and communication skills training, and a community of peers in recovery.

At Volusia County CTC, we strive to offer encouragement and support every step of the way to help clients achieve recovery from opioid addiction.
