Grief is a normal reaction to loss. Progressing through the associated process of grieving requires one not only to arrive at answers as to how the loss influence one's life, but also overcoming the emotions that are universally associated. Counselors assist the person grieving accomplish both, in an atmosphere of much needed support and encouragement.

Experiencing a sense of deep grief is a very natural and human reaction to an important loss. This can occur through death, divorce, and of another dearly-beloved relationship, as well as the loss of a highly-valued profession or physical ability through car accident, work injury or other means. As appropriate for the particular client, Dr. Frederick may employ the use a very structured letter-writing homework exercise, an effective in-office exercise, and/or simply and caringly listening to the client’s deep pain.
