Biblical and Christian Counseling in 35205: Birmingham, AL.

Having experienced a call to Christian ministry early in my life, I explored several avenues through which I could live out that call. When I myself experienced the help that a pastoral counselor could give, I felt that I had found my "home" in ministry. So I followed the path of training as my own counselor had -- that of combining Christian faith with the knowledge and tools of the psychological disciplines. I offer that integration of disciplines to Christians who want a person who can appreciate their faith as well as to people who have no particular faith affiliation but want a counselor seasoned in life values and the benefits that counseling has to offer.

I am a Christian and have a Christian worldview, which has shaped my whole counseling paradigm. I may use techniques and strategies in our sessions but at the end of the day, I believe our suffering points us back to Jesus and that this Earth is not our final home. I use Scripture sometimes but not all the time. The reason is due to not wanting to over-spiritualize issues in our life; rather to name pains for what they are and help you have real honest fellowship with your Maker.
