I believe that the therapist's consciousness and own personal spiritual journey are important in this work and provide the atmosphere to support the client's journey. In this regard, I have come to feel that my work deepens with age and the wisdom age brings. Some principles I adhere to: • A belief in the basic goodness of each individual as well as the universe as a whole • That human beings are both psychological and spiritual in nature • That every person is doing the very best they can at every moment or they would do better • Accessing inner wisdom is both possible and necessary for growth

Prior to my professional training as a therapist I have always appreciated the connection of spiritual values and practice with our health and well-being. I am a Presbyterian pastor, a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, and I have provided counseling to people from a variety of religious backgrounds for over 30 years. I understand the power of scripture to provide fresh insight into chronic problems, and the power of prayer to move us toward healing. I respect the spiritual life of my clients and I am skilled at using this resource in the counseling relationship.

In Christian life, the goal is to become more real; more fully all you were created to be in relationship to God and to other people. I will help you access all that is available to you in the Christian faith that can help you in your journey and relationships. Whether you struggle with faith itself, trauma, relational conflict, or other life issues, I provide a safe environment for you to struggle and be authentic without fear of judgement. I also support you in maintaining your autonomy and freedom of choice in your decisions. I draw on the wealth of psychological knowledge in the Christian faith and in psychology and science to help you become a healthier, more fulfilled relational being.
