I believe that God's handprints are all over psychotherapy. He is after all The Healer. Many Christians believe in medicine as God's way of restoring our physical health; the realm of psychotherapy is God's way of restoring our mental, emotional and spiritual health. Since I work with clients from any spiritual perspective, I ask about spiritual orientation. If it's clear that you want an approach that incorporates a Biblically based faith, I will bring that element into our work. My orientation toward Christian Counseling is based on the philosophy of Christian psychologists John Townsend and Henry Cloud. I have attended their Intensive workshops for both leadership and counseling.

I believe in one God, creator of all. I believe that God loves us and forgives us. I believe God speaks to us if we only listen. I believe God wants the best for us. No matter where you are, God is there with you to protect you and guide you. I pray for my clients during my own prayer time and will pray with you during a session. I believe being a psychotherapist is my calling and I allow the Spirit to lead me during my sessions with clients. I will always remember that you are God's child and treat you with love and respect.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolves from that. If one honors God's natural laws of reaping and sowing around the decisions one makes, one is indeed living Scripture to its fullest. We prepare the brain to better maximize the spiritual realities of Christ's words. Contact kevin@kevinflemingphd.com.

Christian Counseling is one of many forms of discipleship. It is about "growing up" and as the apostle Paul states, it is about "growing up into Him". It starts with the Trinity which reveals a Godhead in perfect relationship--who desired to mirror this mysterious relationship in us. It moves on to a curse, which is conveniently denied by us (including christians) thus distorting our stories and allowing lies to damage our souls. The end is redemption-the return of our relationships in mirroring the Trinity. The path is called repentance--a change where "elder sons/prodigals become like the scandalous Father restoring relationships because we now embrace mercy. The story must be told.

I am trained as a LCSW. I also hold a Masters in Specialized Ministry focused in pastoral care and peace and social justice from Iliff School of Theology. I believe everyone looks at the world through the lens of religion. Whether you are an Atheist or a Christian you have a certain take on things colored by your beliefs. I have a great deal of doctrinal and biblical knowledge and an understanding of the ways in which religion works in our lives to help or hurt us. I have learned much about who and how I am as a therapist and as a person through the teachings of many great theologians, prophets and teachers. Time and time again I find, I return to Jesus. He is at the core of all I am.
