Given the wide variety of family issues I have encountered over the years, I have adopted an integrated therapeutic approach. Hence, clients will receive general psychoeducation in a number of areas including: values discovery, parenting, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, boundary setting, sibling rivalry, mutual respect and accountability to mention a view. As your "group therapy leader," session time will be effectively managed. Role-plays will be utilized extensively to allow for relative freedom of expression. In addition, homework assignments are a prominent and prevalent component to our intervention strategy. Finally, priority is given to confidentiality and trust.

Most family therapists inadvertently create more chaos through their well-intentioned efforts to assist a family move through a change process. Why? Brains are inherently deregulated (all of us, may I add) and most talking and dialoguing misses brain-centric problems that need more intensive help. Many times the emotional trauma created by years of solving problems ineffectively can wreak havoc on the brain's parasympathetic nervous system, not ever giving the family a break from flight or fight thinking. Contact us for an innovative neuroscience solution to family dysfunction. Kevin@kevinflemingphd.com or 877-606-6161.

Having problems with difficult family members or in-laws? Family dynamics can be challenge especially when you blend people with differing backgrounds or experiences. Even if you are brought up in the same household, the different roles family members play can create conflict. Learning new effective ways to communicate and cope can help change the patterns and cycles that create drama and/or the hurt.

Family life can be both deeply enjoyable & extremely painful...differing opinions, single parenting, the stresses of finances, parenting issues, adolescent rough spots, working through the painful process and recovery in divorce, differing lifestyles, career challenges, workaholism, overwhelming commitments, drug abuse, boomeranging children in a down economy-have great impact on family life. Some walk on egg shells while others show explosive emotions-or both. Whatever the situation, my clients experience a safe environment where everyone is given respect for their point of view. Gaining skills & workable way that at minimum everyone can “live with” & potentially heal & thrive is my focus

Valiant Recovery, CCCCA
Residential Addiction Program
Tampa, Tampa, Florida 33633 | 813.775.2098
When a family member is struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, the entire family is affected negatively. Communication barriers within families of addicts may cause the addict to withdraw into isolation, leaving their family members feeling frustrated, ashamed, lonely, fearful, depressed, hopeless and angry. The sources of addiction are mental, emotional and psychological in nature, and the addict, as well as their family, need to heal under the care of professionals. At Valiant Recovery, we offer counseling to the families of addicts to help them process the difficult emotions they have confronted, and to create a healthy, supportive environment for the addict to return home to.

Being a member of a family can be difficult at times. I assist parents by identifying concerns that contribute to conflict and help resolve them to improve family functioning. Treatment starts with a comprehensive assessment with each member of the family to identify important areas for improvement within each member. Significant concerns are addressed individually. I then work with the family as a unit to improve family cohesion and harmony.

Family therapy is an area that I am passionate about. I feel that most of our issues can find its root in our family of origin. Everyone wants to be heard, and everyone wants to be valued. However, no one is being heard or valued, because we are all speaking so loudly that we can only hear ourselves. Sometimes we need an outsiders perspective to help us each other. I greatly desire to help your family be as healthy as it can be.

My approach to the healing of the family is to work with each individual in the family system bringing healing from damaged emotions. When this is accomplished, the family is able to relate from an emotionally healthy perspective. I also do temperament analysis which enables me to understand and share the unique temperament of each family member. Creation Therapy (temperament analysis) gives you your unique creation genetically coded into you at the time of your conception. Your temperament determines how you perceive God, yourself and others. CT identifies your strengths and your weaknesses. CT identifies your needs and how to get them met. Do not wait. My approach to family therapy is simple and effective. I can teach you how to talk to your teen(s) in a way that will be heard and understood. I can show your children the benefits of talking and listening to you. Once we have improved overall communication in the home problems that do come up will be resolved much faster and with noticeably less stress. You can transform your family from a source of frustration to a source of joy. Parenting and raising a family can be tough, but when done well can also be rewarding.
