Counseling that comes from a Christian perspective takes into consideration the truth that is in psychology and counseling theory as well as the full truth which is in the Bible. It treats each person with respect and freedom of choice. The counselor addresses not only the individual’s thoughts and feelings, but also their spirit. By addressing not only the emotional and psychological aspects of the person, but also incorporating the spiritual component can, not only lead to healing, but to wholeness as well, with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

I am a Christian first and foremost in life. God is my most important priority. Did you know that Jesus is listed as a counselor in the Bible? God called me to this field so He loves the helping professions. Now He is the greatest Helper of all. I certainly know that most people do not come to me for Christian counseling but when people are of the same faith, I think they feel a certain level of comfort with someone who shares their faith. I am in business and I do not share anything about God with someone that does not want to hear about faith. It is my prayer that God's wisdom and love is manifested in each session even if Christian counseling never comes up.

I consider myself to be a professional counselor with a pastoral heart. My Christian faith informs all that I do personally and professionally. When working with a person of faith, I incorporate scripture and Christian principles as I seek to address whatever brings the client in for therapy. My approach is not solely from this perspective as I also employ evidence based professional counseling practice. However, faith is an enormous strength that clients can use to overcome problems and improve all aspects of their lives.
