It is my incredible privilege to be called to labor alongside the One and Only Counselor. He has designed me and through my experience and ongoing training He has equipped me to be a counselor. As I give myself to discovering and expressing His grace and truth in my counseling relationships, I am constantly amazed at how I get to observe His urgent, active, skillful and loving intervention in the lives of folks over and over again.

A biblical worldview in which God is the Creator of all men, has made mankind in His image undergirds my entire approach to counseling/change. This worldview places value on who we are as much as it does on what we think. It addresses the brokenness of all relationships and offers hope for healing. Foremost, it acknowledges that God as the essential relationship needed for transformational change to occur.

When I went to school for a Master's degree in Counseling, I wanted a program that would integrate a sound, Biblical perspective with the best practices in counseling techniques. I believe Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis gave me this type of education. I seek to offer a Christlike perspective to clients who want their thoughts, emotions and behaviors informed by Scripture. We live as fallen creatures in a fallen world, but God changes us by His infinite grace. I have been privileged to see Him use me as an instrument of change in the lives of His people. I whole-heartedly and without shame expose my belief that Scripture comes from God and informs my beliefs and worldview. It is part of this belief that these words in Scripture are from God and beneficial for teaching, correcting, challenging and training, helping us move toward righteousness. These words have also personally brought me much comfort and I believe they offer this to you as well. With that said, it is not my desire to force this belief on anyone. Controlling others is contrary to everything else I do in my office. Rather, I trust that as you find integrity in what you do and what you say, you'll be that much closer to trusting God for all that he has in store for you!

As an Integrative Christian Counselor, everything starts with my view of all people through the same lens as fallen and broken people in need of grace for salvation from our sins. In session, since I believe the Bible has a lot to say about our current condition, I often use Scripture. However, it is one component. Along with developing a working relationship, I use many different theories and approaches to help people process through their current difficulties.

Christian Counseling is a form of therapy which gives a person of faith the best of both worlds: 1) the best, scientifically proven approaches secular therapists use, 2) all completely guided by God’s Word and directed by the Holy Spirit. As a result of inviting a-God-who-cares into the therapeutic process, the client receives not only greater encouragement and hope, but also specific, practical solutions that decrease anxiety and stress and produce direction and strength, both to individuals and to families. As an active Christian Counselor for 12 years, time and again I’ve seen God’s Word and prayer provide a breakthrough even in the face of what seemed insurmountable challenges.
