At a time when Christianity is often attacked, it is difficult to find a place where individual and family conflicts can be worked through in counseling that is supportive of Christian beliefs. I was raised as a Christian and can understand and empathize with those who practice a Christian way of life, as well as a conservative view of life. I also understand how at times religious beliefs can come into conflict with personal strivings and need to be resolved. Mental health comes when one's religious beliefs and one's life are in harmony and one can live free of anxiety and doubt.

Faith and spirituality can provide comfort and meaning to those guided by their beliefs. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.

Yes, it is true we carry God with us, but we also need to carry a developed Self in order to have the curiosity and discipline to carry out what we believe to be God's wishes. With a stronger Self we also can differentiate our own wishes and needs. We can identify and delineate one feeling from the other. This is vital as our feelings serve as emissaries of our needs. To be a "good Christian" or a "good Jew, you must first understand what it takes to make an even better YOU. That is where I enter the picture.
