In family therapy, I often see families either together, or individually to begin our work. Understanding of family of origin often gives us a new perspective on our own family. I work with blended families as well to help navigate the issues many families deal with on a regular basis. Together we will work to enhance and understand your family so that there are clearer boundaries and empowerment of each member.

I believe it is important to truly understand the perspectives of each of the family members in order to effectively promote change within the family. I will work with the family, individual members at times, to try to gain the perspective of each of the family members as it relates to problem areas. Then I will work with the family to develop family goals. With these goals in mind I will work with the family to develop steps that the family must take together to reach these goals. I will help the family develop coping skills so they can deal with problems after therapy has ended.

We work to nurture change and development of effective interaction between family members, as family relationships are a significant factor in psychological health. Our therapists believe that, regardless of the origin of the problem, and regardless of whether the clients consider it an "individual" or "family" issue, involving families in solutions is often beneficial through direct participation in the therapy session. The family may be immediately related, or may include strongly supportive, long-term relationships between people who may or may not be related by blood or marriage.
