Therapy has often been viewed with wariness, like a counselor is going to cause you to change your behavior without your consent. If you've heard those messages too, let me reassure you that my approach to counseling isn't controlling or manipulative. I believe that spiritual beliefs can play an important part in the healing process. I follow the client's lead in bringing spirituality in the room. I am not a pastoral counselor, and do not consider myself a biblical counselor. However, I am Christian, familiar with the Bible, and am comfortable with bringing Christian beliefs into the room if that is what is best for the client.
