When asked to incorporate a biblical perspective into therapy, I am more than happy to do this. I became a born-again Christian early in my youth. Since I have walked with the Lord for a long time, I have also fallen a time or two, which makes therapy all that richer. There's no judgement, just honest truths that can feel relatable. Therapy is sprinkled throughout the bible; it's the framework for CBT. I can honestly say with my whole heart, despite all that the Lord and I have been through, he really is my best friend.

Christians are unique because they are given a new nature upon conversion, it is said that they are "born again." A Christian is now able to participate in the Divine Nature, with Christ. It is helpful for the Christian to learn the difference between the "old self" and the "new self" that we have in Christ. As the Christian learns to increasingly dwell in the new self, learning to rest in Christ's work and ability, they are able to experience a new peace and freedom. This freedom will present as the fruit of the Spirit, and is a free gift given of Christ resultant of his sacrifice and resurrection.

Faith and prayer are an important part of every healthy life. In fact, as Catholic counselors faith and prayer are important aspects of our approach for counseling. These give people strength in times of brokenness, hope in despair, joy in the midst of trials, and clarity when you feel like your life is stuck in the fog. As counselors with Christian faith, we are especially capable of helping you grow spiritually as you heal from the past, examine the present, or look to the future. God is the same yesterday, today and forever—and our faith reminds us that He is with you always. So let’s work together, not only journeying to joy, but also journeying closer to God.

Faith and spirituality can provide comfort and meaning to those guided by their beliefs. I was raised in a Christian household myself so I have an appreciation for the values instilled by religion, the importance of tradition, and the strength of community. My approach to counseling is humanistic and welcoming of all spiritualities. Though I do not incorporate any specific pastoral counsel, I encourage my spiritual clients to draw on their beliefs during the counseling process.
