Families learn that it is counterproductive to have an "identified patient" in the family, where one family member is "tagged" to be the only one acting out and causing family distress. Biblical and Family Systems principles may be applied to have the whole family become engaged in the positive change and nurturing process.

Our approach to family therapy engages each member of the family as part of the larger family system, with each person bringing strengths and contributions necessary to the family's success. We work in therapy to help each member of the family to recognize and value the contributions of other family members. The goal of family counseling is not to create perfect families, but ones that love and value each family member. We focus on enhancing family communication while discouraging disruptive, dysfunctional, or demeaning behaviors. We also help families to develop healthy boundaries to protect and preserve relationships in the family.

In family therapy you will learn and practice effective communication skills allowing members to dialogue on their problems, concerns and feelings by demonstrating active listening, curiousity and interest in each others perspective. Problem solving requires a willingness on the parts of all members to contribute to the solutions.
