Familes create complicated systems and part of my work is to identify the systems that are in place. Working with teens and families is one of my favorite aspects of my practice. Learning about each individual family's culture--the unspoken rules, the traditional ways of communicating and setting boundaries, is the first step to bringing about the changes that many families long for: increased intimacy, improved communication, safety, trust, belonging.
